Phoenix, Arizona - City located at the heart of the Sonoran desert - considered the most ecologically diverse desert in the world. It is the sixth biggest in the country and considered a gateway to the well known Grand Canyon. It is a place, where opposites meet and create an interesting contrast. Actually there is couple of them within 75 minutes drive from Phoenix, some even closer. If You enjoy water sports, that is a place You want to be at. There is Lake Pleasant (doesn’t just it’s name make You want to see it?), the Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Apache Lake and the Roosevelt lake. Spend a hot day next to the water’s edge with an occasional dip or take a more active approach and enjoy some boating, waterskiing or jet-skiing. If You are not a fan of water, there’s plenty more to enjoy. You can take a guided tour in a Jeep, Hummer or ATV to see the landscape surrounding the city mostly the Sonoran desert. Should You prefer more “natural” touch, You can go horseback riding or mountain biking in the area. Come and enjoy the breath taking views of a mountaintop. If the view is not enough for You, choose a helicopter tour. Chopper tours can take You to Sedona, even to Grand Canyon or basically all over Arizona.

Greater Phoenix’s top attractions are South Mountain Park and Preserve, Tempe Town Lake, Camelback Mountain and First Friday Art Walks in downtown Phoenix. Other noteworthy attractions include the Heard Museum, Desert Botanical Garden, Heritage and Science Park, the Musical Instrument Museum, and Phoenix Zoo. Phoenix, of course, is also the gateway to the Grand Canyon; the drive to America’s greatest natural wonder takes 31⁄2 hours.
